SEO and Search Engine Marketing with Google Insight

As pragmatic and straightforward as most SEOs proclaim the process of organic search engine marketing to be, it is a bit of a moving target in practice. We all (or most) know the fundamentals by now:

  1. Clean, Standards Based W3C compliant code
  2. Relevant, keyword rich content
  3. Keywords in Title tags, H1 tags, etc…
  4. Keywords in description
  5. Solid backlinks, preferably via keyword rich anchor text
  6. Domain age
  7. Keywords in URL
  8. Regular Press Releases via PRWeb, PRNewswire & others
  9. Good keyword density to content ratio
  10. Regular content via Blogs, Tutorials, etc…
  11. Social Media channels like Facebook, Twitter & Linkedin

There are plenty more, but those are the fundamentals for Search Engine Optimization these days and I suspect for some time to come. The thing is, when you are targeting a specific keyword phrase you think might be the best term for your organic SEO campaign, how do you know if it really is?

Finding the most searched keyword terms with Google insight for organic SEO

This is where Google insight comes in and gives you some insight on the most searched keyword phrases. Just being able to know what is being searched the most would be enough for most SEOs, but of course Google takes a step further. The service provides a way to drill your search popularity by search terms, geographic region, category, time ranges, image searches, news and product searches and more.

Efficient Search Engine Optimization guided by Google Insight

Knowing that a specific phrase like “Dallas Web Design” is trending in your neck of the woods will help you delegate your time more efficiently. The days of countless hours spent chasing a specific term that doesn’t convert are over if you use Google insight correctly. What I like most about the service so far is the ability to look at search trends over time.

You can see that a certain phrase is dying out and rather than wasting a lot of time and energy on gaining visibility for that phrase, you can put that time into targeting a phrase that is on it’s way up. Our own campaigns have already seen huge results, we recommend the service to anyone who isn’t already using for their organic SEO efforts.
